A Facebook profile that it feeds regularly since a few weeks, a site of the Elysee Palace converted to Web 2.0, projects the UMP to prepare for 2012: Nicolas Sarkozy has decided to enter the second part of its mandate under the sign of the Internet. A real change for the President of the Republic which, contrary to François Fillon or François Bayrou, was never shown personal taste for the high-tech products. So he chose for his presidential campaign, of surveying plants and the "France which rises early" assembly lines rather than appear in the start-up. Nevertheless, sensing the potential of these new means of communication as of 2007, Nicolas Sarkozy had decided to put teams on these topics, and to be offensive on the canvas, via including the purchase of keywords.
Go gear

Since a few weeks, decision was made to top speed. With two ambitions more or less admitted: expand its base for the 2012 presidential election by touching a younger audience, and go directly to the French to claim traditional media. The calculation was not long to: in a few weeks, the profile of the head of the State surFacebook generated 140.222 "supporters", when the UMP displays, good year year, 280,000 members.
At the time, the communication Department of the Elysée has expanded and cell Internet created, which includes recently five people. Average age: 25 years. She comes to spend 15 days in the United States to study the workings of the White House Web. The Spanish practices have also passed combed. By the end of the year 2009, the idea is to redesign the site of the Elysee Palace to be "a real platform of trade", according to Franck Louvrier, Nicolas Sarkozy communication advisor. "We want that elysee .fr is a source of information for the whole of the French, and we also want to make a media leader, which produce information," he continued. On Facebook already, the President of the Republic chose to issue messages short but exclusive: as the "I am very well after the small incident on Sunday, prompting me to rest this summer", published July 28 in the aftermath of his release from hospital, or the photos of the visit of Woody Allen in the Elysee Palace (20 June), and the lunch between Sarkozy and Gates couples may 27. The head of State, on the other hand, has chosen for the moment not to use Twitter. His argument: "it must be credible, everyone knows that he has not the time itself to provide video", indicates Franck Louvrier, without referring to the possibility of using the message.
"The creators of the possible".
The UMP, in any case, following the same path, under the leadership of its Secretary-General, Xavier Bertrand. The party reflects, too, to renovate its site. July 21, Christophe Lambert advertising presented the new Internet strategy of the party to its management, gathered for the occasion at the home of Latin America, as it reported "The chained duck" and "The Express". A new social network, dubbed "The creators of the possible", would be launched in October, at halfway between Meetic and Facebook, to facilitate discussions, create petitions... all, open to all, even to non-members, and without the UMP mark.
